The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

The Department of Place (Parks) would like to recruit an Apprentice who is enthusiastic, competent and flexible.

The main purpose of the role is to assist with the grounds maintenance duties within Parks and Green Spaces.

 

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.

 

We are looking for individuals who are committed to undertaking an Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horticulture

 

To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C or a minimum of Entry Level 3 or above in Maths and English.  (An assessment will take place before the interview stage).

Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship. 


The following special knowledge apply to this post, please evidence this by giving examples on your application form:
 

  • The applicant is required to provide evidence of having previously spoken fluently in English in order to meet the lower threshold level outlined above.
  • Required to understand and apply relevant technical knowledge, rules, processes and systems for the apprentice gardener role.
  • Uses basic awareness of Health, Safety and Environment , including Risk Analysis in own area of work.
  • Operates tools and equipment relevant to the apprentice gardener area of work.
  • Awareness of data protection and data security protocols.
  • Ability to adopt a process of continual improvement and suggest ways of working more efficiently and effectively.
  • Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate straightforward information.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office ie Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Must be physically capable and be able to work on uneven terrain in all weathers.
  • Must be accurate and able to demonstrate good numeracy and literacy.
