Apprentice Signmaker

 

TEMPORARY – 12 Months

Band 7

 

Age 16/17 -  Year 1 - £11,298 pa - Year 2 - £17,913 pa

Age 18 +  -   Year 1 - £16,433 pa - Year 2 - £20,020 pa

 

1 Post - 37   hours per week

 

Based at Wakefield Road Depot, Foundry Lane, Bradford and may be required to work on site with installation operatives across the District

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The Department of Place would like to recruit an Apprentice who is enthusiastic, competent and flexible to assist in the design and manufacture of a variety of signs in our recently refurbished sign shop

 

To undertake an Apprenticeship Scheme within the Department of Place for which the main purpose of the role is to:-

 

  • Carry out the design of traffic signs, street name plates, sponsorship signs, temporary signs and other media using a computer and the associated graphic design software packages.
  • To print and manufacture signs using a variety of methods and processes and assist with the installation of signs as required.
  • To provide support to the Assistant Manager with all aspects of the day to day running of the sign shop.

 

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.

 

We are looking for an individual who is committed to undertaking an Intermediate Level (2) Apprenticeship in Signmaking.

 

To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C or a minimum of Entry Level 3 or above in Maths and English.  (An assessment will take place before the interview stage)

Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship. 

The following special knowledge apply to this post:- 

 

  • Able to learn and use knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and regulations including risks in own area of work
  • Experience of Microsoft Software packages and working knowledge of graphic design techniques and software. 
  • Able to use, interpret, handle and communicate information and relay it to customers.
