The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The Bradford District enjoys 37 public parks, 118 recreation grounds, 170 playing pitches, 55 bowling greens and over 300 outdoor play/fitness facilities, the vast majority managed and maintained by the Council's Park & Green Spaces Service. The Service has ambitious plans for investment in both its playing pitches and outdoor play facilities to improve the quality of provision whilst reducing annual maintenance and repair costs.
An opportunity has arisen within the Parks & Greenspaces Technical Design Unit for a Technical Officer (Design). You will be part of the Technical Design team who plan, design and manage recreation and amenity projects from conception to completion. You will also be required to give technical support and advice on a wide range of schemes and developments across the Sport and Culture service.
The successful candidate must have good design, graphic and analytical abilities and report writing skills together with the ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences and experience of community and stakeholder consultation and partnership working.
Candidates will need to have:
- A Foundation degree in Horticulture (or related subject) together with 2 years experience, or Degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent, together with 1 years relevant experience post qualification. Membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable.
- An in depth knowledge of landscape and environmental design.
- Applied knowledge of analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex information from a variety of sources.
- A track record that demonstrates the ability to translate design into construction information and realisation.
- Knowledge and skill in drafting JCLI and JCT specifications.
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge with proficiency in AutoCAD, PhotoShop and Sketchup.
- Project Management and negotiating skills.
- A well-developed knowledge of safety and environmental policies, procedures and regulations, within the construction industry including CDM Regulations.
- A current UK driving licence.
