Due to the retirement of the current post holder, Bradford MDC is looking to appoint a senior leader with relevant Music Service experience to continue the development of our very successful and highly valued Music and Arts Service.

Bradford Music and Arts Service is a traded service working across the Bradford district; the service is financially self-sufficient through the  Arts Council Hub grant and generated traded income.  We work with the all schools in Bradford.  We also run Music Centres throughout the week and on Saturday mornings. The centres run a number of groups/ensembles that support pupils’ progressive pathways.   The Youth Orchestra and Youth Wind Orchestra do regular tours both abroad and in the UK.  We have close links with the BBC, with Children in Need and with a range of community projects.   We run a highly successful Schools Prom over three days and an annual Music Education conference.

Additionally the Head of Music & Arts Service line manages arts delivery in schools. This is a fully traded service with working with schools to provide CPD, Curriculum support and full and half day arts workshops as well as running a number of additional projects such as out of school clubs and  holiday clubs.  The service works within and beyond Bradford District.

The successful applicant will be responsible for a team of senior leaders, teaching and business support staff.  The Head of Service regularly meets with neighbouring Music Hubs and all regional and national meetings arranged by Music Mark of which the Service is a member.

The Music and Arts Service sits within the School Standards and Performance Service in Education and Learning Service Group of Children’s Services.  The Service is lead partner for the Bradford Music Education Hub (BMEH) and sits on the Bradford Music Education Hub Steering group chaired by the portfolio holder for Healthy People and Places.
